Ann Cronin

Apart from painting as a child, I started to paint seriously in my mid- 40’s and have continued ever since. I combine painting with Japanese calligraphy, millinery and tailoring. My inspiration is from the natural world, memories of events and travelling. Nowadays, I often start from random marks, rubbings or doodles. I do not always know what image will appear on canvas or paper. I am often surprised at what emerges then imagination takes a back seat while techniques form and media experience become necessary to produce the finished work.
