A concert to celebrate 25 years of Centrepieces was held at Erith Playhouse Theatre on the 19th September. This intimate, local theatre hosted a wonderful evening of Blues, Americana and Roots music. First up was a duo who had travelled down especially from Liverpool to be with us. Naomi Campbell and Rob Johnson captivated the audience with their intricate harmonies. Drawing on their own self-penned songs, they found time to cover Joni Mitchell’s iconic Woodstock. We look forward to hearing more about their forthcoming tour of the UK featuring the music of Laurel Canyon.

Headliners were Bagge, Armer, Wigg and Barber. These seasoned musicians showed their musical skills, taking us through the Blues, Americana and Skiffle, not only playing a few of their own compositions but also songs by Leadbelly, Ry Cooder and Levon Helm. The highlight was a singalong to Leadbelly’s ‘ Have a Whiff on Me’ featuring a tea chest bass. Only those of a certain age will understand what that is!
It is not possible to do justice to these guys’ musical CVs. They play throughout Kent and Sussex, so look out for them.

The evening was also a great financial success with £1800 raised in ticket sales, along with donations worth £100.
