Writer | Graphic Designer | Photographer

Starting out in Young-Adult fiction, my writing primarily revolves around expressing different themes and perspectives related to psychology, sociology and the construction of identity. Inspired primarily through the narratives told in various seminal films from Eighties youth cinema (“The Breakfast Club”, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, “Karate Kid”…), my prose and screenwriting has a distinctly Hughesian influence around youth identity and how that informs our relationship with wider social constructs. Meanwhile, a keen love for the lyrical expressionism of The Smiths, alongside Shakespeare, any poetry I undertake, again expressing how the construction of self and identity’s impact upon wider social constructs directly inform each other.

For visual arts, inspiration largely comes from the Art Deco revival of the Eighties and early-Nineties (such as Memphis Milano), where colour, shape and geometry are utilised to offer fresh appreciation and inspiration for the everyday. For me, it’s fascinating exploring and expressing how different combinations of colour, shape and geometry can conjure different responses to identity and perspective.
