OUR NEXT EXHIBITION
The Consciousness of Me
at Canvas & Cream
This exhibition is a response by Centrepieces artists to a poem by Isotou Nadia Halliday, expanding her personal reflections into a broader exploration of shared wisdom. By examining how our identities shift through interconnectedness, the collection will highlight the ‘Consciousness of Me’ and our mutual responsibility to one another. Held during Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 and the Dulwich Festival, the exhibition will be possible through a collaboration with Canvas & Cream.

Past Exhibitions
2026
December 2025 – March 2026
at The Drill Hall in Sandwich
Celebrating Centrepieces’ 25th anniversary, this exhibition explored three central themes:
– ‘MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE,’ which aligned with the 2025 World Mental Health Day theme by highlighting a supportive environment for artistic practice;
– ‘SEASONAL REFLECTIONS,’ which captured artists’ feelings about winter and the year’s end;
– ‘BRINGING LIGHT TO MENTAL HEALTH,’ which showcased artwork from the ‘Night Visions’ programme that demonstrated art’s power as a positive catalyst for well-being.

2025
2025 was a significant year for Centrepieces, marked by a full schedule of exhibitions and several new ventures. While we typically hold one annual showcase at the Stables Gallery at Hall Place, we were able to host two this year.
April – May: “From Trauma to Recovery”
at Canvas and Cream, Forest Hill

The exhibition proved to be a significant step forward and a valuable learning experience for us. It offered a dedicated space for five of our female artists to develop their independence and, with the support of SANE awards, successfully raised mental health awareness. We were also pleased to see strong sales, particularly during the Dulwich Open Studios weekend.
May: “Community”
at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) More London Office
To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, we brought the conversation about social connection into a corporate setting. This exhibition focused on the national theme of “Community,” highlighting the importance of supportive networks.

Mid-Year: “Reflections on Where We Live”
at The Stables Gallery, Hall Place

In our first of two showcases at Hall Place, we commemorated the 60th anniversary of the London Boroughs. Our artists explored the experience of living in the Bexley area, highlighting its diverse people, places, and shared memories.
October: “Bringing Light to Mental Health”
at The Stables Gallery, Hall Place
We returned to Hall Place for our 25th Anniversary celebration, coinciding with World Mental Health Day. Aligned with the theme “Mental Health in the Workplace,” this show served as the launch for our involvement with the Arts Council-funded “Night Visions” program. It featured light-themed artwork that demonstrated how art acts as a catalyst for wellbeing.
Community Highlights
Our year included an art fair in Rochester and a brief showcase at our Bexleyheath Shopping Centre pop-up, which allowed us to share our artists’ work with the wider community.
2024
We held two major exhibitions in 2024, the first in March – April at the Stables Gallery at Hall Place and the second in May at The Drill Hall in Sandwich.

Both exhibitions aligned with the Mental Health Awareness Week theme of ‘Movement and Mental Health,’ with work that resonated with visitors. We saw a steady interest in artwork, cards and crafts at Hall Place. Additionally, our volunteers managed the exhibition effectively, gaining further experience in gallery stewarding.

2023
In August 2023 we had an exhibition at The Stables Gallery at Hall Place, focused on the theme “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right”.
Our volunteers helped with the setup of the exhibition as well as with stewarding during the four weeks of display, dealing with enquires and sales of artwork and greeting cards.
The exhibition proved to be a valuable learning experience for Centrepieces. We were pleased to see a steady interest in our artwork and merchandise, resulting in our highest engagement to date thanks to the hard work of our volunteers. Visitors seemed to appreciate the focus on mental health themes, as well as the chance to chat with our artists.

In May 2023, we returned to The Drill Hall in Sandwich for an exhibition themed around ‘Anxiety,’ featuring thought-provoking work from our artists. The collection was well-received, and we were pleased to hear that our contributions to this venue continue to be appreciated by visitors.

Another highlight of 2023 included The Inner Me Exhibition at Erith Exchange which showed artwork produced through a series of workshops funded by a William Kendall grant. The exhibition opening was attended by the Mayor of Bexley at his first outing, who then went on to adopt Centrepieces as one of his main charities for fundraising in his term of office.
