I have been a member of Centrepieces since September 2019 and taking part regularly in the various art workshops has had a major positive impact on my wellbeing. I have suffered episodes of anxiety and depression over the years and have always found art to be very therapeutic, although there have been periods when I have completely lost my motivation.
Taking part in the various Centrepieces workshops has helped me maintain my creative drive. It has given structure to my days now that I’m retired. Another benefit from being an active member of Centrepieces has been the social aspect. It has been invaluable to be able to bond with a group of like-minded individuals who are supportive, encouraging, and friendly.
I would say I’ve probably yet to find my ‘style’ as an artist – it’s an ever-evolving process. I enjoy experimenting with a wide range of materials including acrylics, watercolours, graphite, charcoal, collage, pastels, pen and ink and mixed media.
