Fatma Durmush

I was born in Cyprus but did not come into my own as an artist until I did a degree and MA in Art at the University of East London. I studied at the OU and also did a psychology course. Recently I obtained a practitioners certificate on control and violence as I wanted to understand the whole thing, having begun to paint when I got knifed. I have found that art helps me to process my feelings in a unique way, and I have had my work exhibited around a spectrum of mental health galleries and facilities. I am involved with the Bethlem Hospital as a painter and also with Centrepieces where I create art on a regular basis. Centrepieces are currently supporting me to put on a solo exhibition at the Creek Creative gallery in Faversham this August.
